Karen is the managing director of ITV Channel Television. Karen is a JCG old girl and has a daughter and an older son who was educated at JCG and VCJ. Karen joined the Board of Governors in 2004. She is a member of the Admissions Sub-Committee.
Julian has 30 years’ experience helping organisations streamline operations through the innovative application of technology. He has founded several start-up companies including VirtualizeIT, an award winning technology company as well as co-founded Virtustream Inc., a venture capital backed cloud service provider which raised over $120m in funding from several US-based venture capital institutes and was sold for $1.2B in May 2015.During the last 6 years Julian has been building his fourth business Calligo a global cloud service provider headquartered in St Helier he also applies his unique expertise as a non-exec to several businesses as well as working with several local schools on their technology roadmaps including creating Jersey’s first set of computer programming clubs through a pilot at four secondary schools.
Along with the above he’s been involved in Digital Jersey’s working group since the beginning of 2012 and became a trustee as part of its legal setup and the Chair of their Education and Skill Technical Action Group. He’s also an active Angel Investor, to date investing in eight businesses, these are based in Jersey, UK, US and Switzerland.
Julian joined the Board of Governors in 2016. He chairs the Finance & Property Sub-Committee, sits on the Safeguarding Sub-Committee and the JCG Foundation.
Bryony is married and a mother of two (her daughter attends JCG). Amongst other things, Bryony’s job as a GP has given her experience in clinical and financial governance, staffing, performance management and safeguarding. Bryony joined the Board of Governors in October 2014. She chairs the Standards Sub-Committee and is a member of the Safeguarding Sub-Committee.
Catherine is the Headteacher at St Saviour’s & St Olave’s School in London, which is part of the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership. Catherine joined the Board of Governors in July 2019 and will sit on the Standards Sub-Committee.
Ed is the Managing Director / Owner of Channel Islands Design and Digital Business, Potting Shed. With a wealth of creative years behind him in an international arena he will be representing these skills on the board, including the Wellbeing and Standards Sub-Committees.
James is a partner in the Jersey office of offshore law firm Carey Olsen, and regularly advises clients on both large, high-profile international transactions and on local matters. He has over 15 years’ experience as a corporate lawyer, originally qualifying in England in 2004 and then working in London, Bratislava, Singapore and Birmingham before moving to Jersey with his family in 2010. His older daughter attends JCG. James joined the Board of Governors in 2019 and sits on the Governance, Wellbeing and Finance & Property Sub-Committees.
Kirstie is an Emergency Medicine Doctor at the General Hospital. She joined the Governing Body in October 2018 and chairs the Wellbeing Sub-Committee. She also sits on the Admissions Sub-Committee.
Louise is a Director of the Channel Islands Competition and Regulatory Authorities, responsible for economic regulation of the telecoms, ports (airport, harbour and marinas) and postal sectors in Jersey and the enforcement of competition law. An accountant by background, Louise has extensive experience of managing finance, personnel and operational aspects of business. Louise was previously the Group Financial Accountant at Jersey Post, and worked with many of Jersey’s businesses during her time at PwC. Louise is a Chartered Director, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a BSc in Accounting and Management Sciences from the University of Southampton. She also sits as a Commissioner of the Jersey Appointments Commission and a Member of the States Members Remuneration Review Body. She has a daughter at JCG.Louise joined the Board of Governors in November 2017 and sits on the Finance & Property Sub-Committee.
Rae Sedel recently retired after a 30 year career in Executive Search with Russell Reynolds Associates. She was a member of the firmʼs Board of Directors from 2005 to 2018, having previously served on its Executive Committee for 13 years. She currently mentors a number of the firmʼs senior search professionals.
Rae was a Director of Agere Systems Inc. from the initial public offering of stock on the NYSE in 2001 until its merger with LSI Logic Corporation in 2007. Agere Systems was a global leader in semiconductors and software solutions for storage, mobility and networking markets.
Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates in 1987, Rae was Vice President, Consumer Markets with Pacific Bell, the California phone company. In that role, she was responsible for a staff of 13,000 that handled more than one billion customer transactions annually through call centres and retail outlets.
Cedric is a professional business advisor and has over 20 years of experience working in a variety of commercial and voluntary roles including business development, product development, and also as an investor in a local start-up enterprise. He is currently working at Jersey Business providing advice to owner managers who are keen to make better decisions and improve their overall business outcomes.Cedric was Educated at Victoria College and has a daughter at JCG and a son at school in the UK. Cedric joined the Board of Governors in June 2018.
Ed is a Director of Mourant Governance Services and has worked in strategy, IT, change programmes and operational roles during his career. Originally starting as a management consultant with PwC he worked across Europe before taking a year off to compete in the Clipper Round the World Yacht race where he met his wife. Ed was educated in Gloucestershire before studying for a degree in Business Economics at Exeter University. Ed moved to Jersey in 2006 and has two daughters, one at JCP and one at JCG. Ed joined the board of Governors in November 2019 and sits on the Finance & Property Sub-Committee, the Admissions Committee and the JCG Foundation.
Simon is currently Head of Sixth Form at JCG. Simon was educated at Victoria College and the University of Oxford, where he studied English Language and Literature as an undergraduate before completing a Master’s degree in early modern literature. Simon joined the Board of Governors in June 2018.
