Explore every path in the biomedical field before you choose yours.
Ever wondered what it really feels like to dissect a heart, handle surgical tools, or step inside a hospital pathology lab?
If you are considering or are curious about a career in the biomedical field, the Biomedical summer leadership programme will give you a week of hands-on medical science — from brain dissections with UK neuroscientists to CPR, lab visits, intubation workshops with real clinicians.
Biomed is for anyone interested in a career in the healthcare field, from doctors and nurses to speech and language therapists, radiologists and all other roles within healthcare. It is also valuable to all interested in veterinary roles.
Throughout the week, students learn directly from local professionals as well as experts from leading UK universities, Jersey General Hospital and Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.
Highlights from Biomed include:
Hands on heart dissection and suturing techniques
Brain dissection with leading UK neuroscientist Dr Sutton
Guided visit to the Jersey General Hospital Pathology Department
Operations Department practical workshops
Marine biology on the beach
Alongside these practical experiences, students hear honestly from specialists about the realities of their work. These sessions are designed not only to deepen understanding, but also to help students make informed decisions about university pathways and career options
