Global Groove
Specialist teacher: Eva Hsieh
Eva grew up in Taiwan where she was trained as a pianist and percussion player. After moving to the UK to study at Birmingham Conservatoire and then the Royal College of Music she achieved lots of success as a performer, notably winning competitions for her marimba playing.
Eva has been in Jersey for 12 years and has continued performing regularly, alongside a busy career as a teacher of piano and percussion for many island schools and organisations. Eva is also in demand as a piano accompanist for local choirs and events such as the Jersey Eisteddfod.
Eva is looking forward to sharing her passion for music and rhythm during the Creative Minds week.
The focus of the week will be 'World Music' with an emphasis on different rhythms and melodic patterns used in different parts of the world. There will be a variety of percussion instruments involved, and children will also learn by listening and responding to musical extracts from different cultures.

Let’s get musical!
Specialist teacher: Julie Millow
Join us for a creative and musical week inspired by summer! Each day, children will begin with fun warm-up activities before listening to and singing a different summer-themed song together. We'll explore how music is put together by identifying instruments, rhythms, and sounds, then work in small groups to recreate parts of the song using our own ideas and creativity.
Throughout the week, children will also enjoy a variety of summer-themed activities, including:
Creating beach and seaside-inspired artwork
Decorating shells and making colourful seascapes
Designing and making their own sundials
Building clay sandcastles
Designing a unique sun hat
Taking part in outdoor games and summer challenges
Possible beach visit (weather and permissions permitting)
