Chamber Choir to sing at Windsor

The ensemble, which includes students across different years, will be performing during the Evensong service. (see order of service: https://www.stgeorges-windsor.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/22.06.26.pdf)

They will be singing ‘Esti Dal’, a prayer for peace composed by Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály at the start of the Second World War, which they performed earlier this year in front of the College during a vigil for peace in support of Ukraine.

John Bowley, Head of Music at the College, said: “JCG’s Chamber Choir is extremely excited to be going to St George’s Chapel Windsor on 6th July. To visit The Chapel of the Most Honourable and Noble Order of the Garter at any time is a thrill, but to do so as the first visiting choir after The Queen’s Platinum celebrations is a particular honour.

“The service of Evensong has been taking place for approximately 500 years across the cathedrals and chapels across the country, and it is wonderful to be part of this tradition.

"Surely there can be no better place for our wonderful choir to sing this summer.”
