Artist in residence: Haidée Drew

General | Student

Haidée’s residence started with a field trip to Howard Davis Park, guided by Biologist Bruce Labbie, during which students looked for regularities and patterns in nature, such as the golden ratio.

The following day, students discussed how to visualise maths and make them physical. With Haidée’s help they created forms based on polyhedron and tessellation.

On the final day of Haidée’s residence, students looked at re-creating regularities found in nature using everyday materials such as vitamin tablets, shaving foam, oil, balloons and food colouring.

The workshops will help inform the artwork combining art and maths Haidée has been commissioned to create for the maths corridor, which is due to be delivered in June.

Thanks to ArtHouse Jersey for helping organise the residence.
