The Arts

The Arts underpin our traditions and values. We give our students the opportunity to embrace a broader education and to develop skills outside of a traditional classroom, through the medium of fine art, drama and music.

The Arts form part of our self disciplined learning with emphasis on attention to detail and the importance of practice to fine tune skills. We believe that The Arts provide a springboard to the confidence of all our students and ensue our studios, performance areas and music rooms are well lit, well equipped and supported by passionate staff who not know know their subjects but are advocates for them.

In art, students explore a range of materials and processes, print making and sculpture that allow for creativity and students to input individual ideas. This encourages the development of personal portfolios based on the students interests. When evaluating their own work and the work of other artists, students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.

In textiles, students are able to develop their knowledge across a broad range of materials, techniques and processes, including inter disciplinary approaches. Students are able to input their ideas and innovative flare into practical designs to engage in their own work and projects. Students express their creativity through their designs using techniques such as weaving, embroidery, knitting, printing, painting, embellishment and construction.
