Royal Navy appoints JCG Alumnae as first female admiral

General

Jude Terry, JCG Alumnae, was today appointed as the first ever female admiral in the Royal Navy.

Commodore Jude Terry will take up the rank of rear admiral in August 2022. "Someone had to be first," she said. The navy "genuinely doesn't look at your gender", she added. Cdre Terry will take on the roles of the Royal Navy's director of people and training and naval secretary.

CdreJude Terry OBE left JCG in 1994 and studied Anatomical Sciences at Dundee University. After graduating she enrolled at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth and has served on HMS Boxer, HMS Scott and Commander Logistics on the Royal Navy’s Fleet Flagship, HMS Ocean in the Gulf.

In 2014 Cdre Terry was appointed Military Assistant to the Chief of Joint Operations at the Permanent Joint HQ. During her time there she was Staff officer for the planning of the drawdown of British troops from Afghanistan. It was for her work that she received her OBE.

Please join us in wishing Cdre Terry congratulations and the utmost respect on her achievement.
