Life Changing Languages Event

11th December 2013

On Wednesday 11th December all of Year 9 attended our annual Life Changing Languages Event in College Hall.

The girls listened to a variety of invited linguists and took part in many language related activities. There was a great buzz in the hall and the students really enjoyed learning about how languages have influenced different people’s careers and personal lives. They also learnt how to sing Jingle Bells in French with Mr. Marett and found out that Miss Renaud used to teach in Eastbourne that Mrs Taylor’s daughter Lauren once fell down a drain in Aix-en-Provence and that Mrs Silvestri-Fox can be quite stubborn if asked to leave a train because she and her party of students had not yet got to the Eurostar station!

The girls completed a questionnaire after the event and here are some of their quotes:

“Learning languages is like learning a whole new awesome you”

“Connecting cultures for exciting futures”

“Where can languages take me ………….. anywhere and everywhere”

“There’s more to languages than we thought possible”

“Travel round the world with your best friend ………. languages”
