Prize Giving

13th September 2013

Students, Parents, Governors and Sponsors attended the annual JCG Prize Giving on Friday 13th September at Langford Hall.

Over 100 awards were presented. We were honoured to welcome Dame Patricia Hodgson DBE as our guest speaker who offered some valuable advice to the students. From 2006 to 2012 she was Principal of Newnham College, Cambridge and on leaving Newnham in 2012, she became Deputy Chair of Ofcom and Chair of the School Teachers’ Review Body.

Carl Howarth, Principal commented ‘Today is a moment in our busy year to reflect on the core purpose which underpins the success and achievements of this College. That core purpose is the enrichment of a young person, to flourish academically and, more importantly, blossom as someone with a zest for life. Out of this zest comes the energy and passion to climb higher mountains and view other horizons. We can never reach our potential, it is limitless. It is the journey of exploration, of possibilities that is the exciting bit. Knowing that is our core purpose. Today we congratulate those who know it too.’

During the event, guests were entertained by JCG Group, Saxsequential with their Funk Dunk rendition and the JCG Chamber Choir performed ‘For the Beauty of the Earth.’ Outgoing Head Girl Alexandra Corbridge and Deputy Head Girl, Lucy Le Lievre gave their Vote of thanks whilst Yasmine Sinel, Deputy Head Girl gave a formal farewell to the Class of 2013 Leavers.Prize Giving
