Sunrise at La Hougue Bie

24th September 2010

On Monday 20th September a small group of Year 11 History students and their parents met at La Hougue Bie to watch the sunrise.

Despite the cloudy sky, and tall field of maize, the sun did manage to shine into the passage grave and illuminate it in a spectacular glow. It is magnificent to see when it does work, and it is a reminder of the importance and power that the sun holds for all life. Our ancient ancestors were very much in touch with nature, and were aware of how it sustains us.

This was an energising and rewarding start to the day for all who attended. Many thanks to the students and their drivers!
