World Book Week 2013.

25th March 2013

World Book week began with students writing short book reviews in form time.

140 of these were received and pinned on the Reading Tree in the Library. House points were awarded, Garrett-Anderson and Curie-Fry being the most prolific.

Through the week, staff gave their choice of readings in the Library for half an hour at lunchtimes. Thanks go to Tomi Owens, Helen Duncan, Richard Haine, Kerry-Jane Warner and Mr Howarth. JCG lunch hours are always extremely busy with clubs and activities so the audiences were small but deeply appreciative.

On World Book Day, many students dressed up as a character from a book – we saw pirates, princes, Matilda, Three Blind Mice, a Flying Monkey, Piglet, The Cat in a Hat, Thing One, Three Little Pigs, Alice in Wonderland, Mr Bump, The Tiger who Came to Tea, lots of Pyjama People, a DDA teacher from Hogwarts (Mr Howarth) and the Billion Dollar Brain (Mr Coxshall).

Big Easter Eggs were awarded to the best three. In age group order: Ellie Harris (7 IN) as The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Sarah Hansen(8 CF) as The Tin Man and Shavannah Robertson (12 NI) as the Cheshire Cat.
