  • More students than ever achieve straight As at JCG.

Carl Howarth, Principal, stated, ‘Through hard work, aspiration and strong teaching our students have secured an exceptionally high level of success.  This is the first year of Numbers rather than Letter grades in a wide range of subjects.  65.6% of all grades were A* or A (or grades 9, 8 or 7) with 72.2% of all our students achieving 5 or more A* or A grades.  Over a third of students gained 10 or more A* or A grades or their number equivalent.  A grade 9 is above the old style A* grade and is reflective of the top 3% of attainment across the country.  We are delighted that 45 students gained at least one of the top grade 9’s (41.7% of students). However, whilst these headline figures are very pleasing they don’t reveal the many individual successes.  It is wonderful to see students who have aspired and worked so hard to significantly outperform their targets.  This positive difference is the value that they, their teachers, their families and the College as a whole have added to their education and we are so proud of them. In addition to the superb level of attainment at A level last week, these results underline the depth of excellence and care at JCG.’

  • JCG students achieve highest results in College’s history

Carl Howarth, Principal of JCG, stated, ‘When you study tremendously hard, show great resilience and have incredible teachers, as our students have done, you thoroughly deserve this exceptional level of success.  We are very proud and delighted for them, their teachers and parents.  Over 50% of our grades are at the very top band of A* or A with 95% of all grades at A* - C.  We are also delighted that the strategies our students and staff have been pursuing has increased our A* and A grades by 18% over the last three years.  We believe all our students can do well and our students are showing this to be true. These results enable our students to pursue a wide range of degrees including Medicine, Engineering, Languages, Natural Sciences, Pharmacy, Law and Teaching.  We wish them every success and happiness as they venture on to universities ranging from Oxford, Durham, Exeter, local and international institutions to name just a few.  We also congratulate our students choosing to stay in the Island to work and who have all secured positions in a range of local businesses.’
