On Wednesday 16 September Natasha Devon MBE spoke to Year 12 students from JCG and Beaulieu about body image, self-esteem and the portrayal of women in the media.
Natasha’s session has been introduced as part of the extended Wednesday enrichment programme for sixth form students, which is designed to address some of the important issues facing the girls at this stage of their education and to help them to prepare for life when they leave JCG.
Natasha is an award winning writer, journalist and broadcaster who is a founding member of the ‘Self-Esteem Team’. She writes for the Independent and the Telegraph and has a regular column in Cosmopolitan magazine. She frequently appears on television shows such as Sky News and This Morning and was a ‘body confidence expert’ on the Channel 4 documentary ‘Gok’s Teens’. Natasha advises the UK government on the content of the PHSE curriculum and is a campaigner for better body image and mental health practice in schools. She was the winner of the UK Parliament’s Body Confidence Award in 2014 and Cosmopolitan Magazine’s ‘Ultimate Woman of the Year’ and the Mental Health Association’s ‘Business Hero’ Award in 2012 and was voted as One of Ernst & Young’s Top 50 Social Entrepreneurs in 2013.
